Crying In H Mart by Michelle Zauner

I’d consider myself a part of the main audience for Zauner, if not at least one foot in. Having cried over the last two pages of The Joy Luck Club only a month ago; and spent an all nighter in LAX reading Banana Yoshimoto’s novel Kitch this spring; having had a soff spot for memoirs since reading Maxine Hong Kingston’s memoir, which also ignited my obsession with diasporic literature. I also happen to attened a Japanese Breakfast concert in San Francisco. But, most significantly, I lived with my grandmother while she was going through stage IV cancer treatment that ultimately took her life after much suffering.
